Commenting on a Post

When blogging, you really start feeling the wind in your hair when others start commenting on your posts. Every post comes with a comment form and thread of existing comments, unless you've turned off commenting.

To comment on a post, click either the posts permalink title, or the leave a comment link (note: if there are already comments on the post, this link will tell you how many comments there are) as shown below:

If you click the post title, you will be taken to a panel on your blog that only shows that post. Scroll to the bottom to see the comment form. If you click the leave a comment link, a pop-up window containing any existing comments and the comment form, shown below, will be displayed.

Filling the form in is pretty self-explanatory. All that is required is a name and a comment, but you can also put in the URL to your website, which will display as a permalink off your name. You can also enter your email address. The email will not be published, but the blog poster will be able to see it.

So, why enter your email address?? One good reason is if you want to be notified of follow-up comments. As you can see in the screenshot above, you can click a checkbox to be notified via email of any followup comments, which makes it easier to follow the conversation.
