Another Bloo Blog

As some of you know, the Thinklings is a blog that I webmaster. It had been down last week but was brought back and converted to WordPress.

There are two other blogs in the Thinklings domain – one, which is still down, is Jared’s Mysterium Tremendum (coming up soon, Rod – don’t lose hope!). The other is Katherine’s Blog, which I have converted to Bloo. Bloo version 0.17a, to be exact. This is basically the version I’m running here, with a slight modification on how settings are loaded. I will be upgrading both blogs to 0.17 proper when I get it done.

I haven’t, um, exactly communicated this new development to Katherine yet. 🙂 But she’s a good friend and hopefully will be ok with me using her as a guinea pig.

The expansion of Bloo across the blogosphere has begun! [Bill adopts a Darth Vader pose . . . ]

  1. “Is there a support group that can help you?”

[Bill attempts one of those Vader telepathic choke-things on BWS for making such an insolent suggestion.

Her Marine husband comes over and snaps Bill like a twig]

  2. Well, Kat’s blog is a lot simpler than Thinklings – there are a lot of features of Thinklings that I haven’t gotten coded in Bloo yet. Maybe someday. . .

  3. Hey Beel, I’m about to make the jump to WordPress, and I wondered if there was anything you ran into that you had to fiddle with? My main question that I’m trying to get handled right now is the database server name, which if I’m guessing, is “localhost”. Does that ring a bell?

  4. Hey Damon

Are you converting a blog? Or just setting up a new one?

WordPress install is one of the easiest I’ve ever seen. You should be fine. “localhost” works almost all the time – I’ve had one server (where Thinklings is now) that only worked if I specified the server, but that might have been a special case – every other install I’ve done “localhost” works.

Let me know if you have any questions.

  5. I’m going to set it up fresh, then (try to) import my blogspot blog over to it. Seems fairly straightforward according to the FAQ’s I’ve read.

My next big project is going to be getting Gallery 2.0 running. That promises to be a bear…
