But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah . . .

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,

who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,

from you shall come forth for me

one who is to be ruler in Israel,

whose origin is from of old,

from ancient days.

Micah 5:2

Join me today in praise of the one who chooses the weak, the small, the insignificant things of this world to become mangers – humble vessels for his glory.

For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are . . .

  1. Sometimes I wonder if I’m humble enough to be used by God. At the same time, I wonder if I will see the weak person being used by God around me and recognize them for the vessel that they are.

How many times have I shunned the weaker individual being used by God because of the very weakness God desired in them?
