Corrections and wisdom requested

It’s not often that I post anything theological when the subject is something as difficult to understand as some of Christ’s words in Matthew 5. Well, tonight I wrote three posts on the subject, as I prepare to teach Matthew 5:17-48 in the GAP class tomorrow.

I highly covet any expansion, correction, and enlightenment any of you can offer on what I have written in these three posts. And not just before tomorrow, but anytime.

What’s a Christian to do with the Old Testament law? Part 1

What’s a Christian to do with the Old Testament law? Part 2

What’s a Christian to do with the Old Testament law? Part 3 (the Law of Christ)

Thanks.

  1. I think you’ve made a great start and I really don’t think I could improve on what you’ve said at all. As I said in my email this portion of Holy Scripture is so deep that scratching the surface could take many lifetimes and the books written on it would fill many libraries.

You have provide much to think about. One thing that comes to mind is Jesus saying that you search the Scripture for life and the Scriptures point to me. If that isn’t scary I don’t know what is?!

I really like your comment that if you aren’t scared your not reading the Scriptures correctly.

  2. You’ll notice at Gospel-Driven Church that Jared has done it again. His post on the Law and redemption of Israel from Egypt dovetails quite nicely with your writings.
